Purchasing Teeth Whitening Products

If you don’t have the time or money to go to a dentist’s office to whiten your teeth then you can purchase teeth whitening products from the local grocery or drug store. Most of the products you can find at the store to whiten your teeth are available over the counter. However, some products may require a prescription from the dentist meaning you will have to make at least one visit to the dentist’s office.

• Teeth whitening toothpaste will gradually wear away the staining or discoloring liquids or foods from your teeth that will make a whiter smile. Whereas teeth whitening procedures that use bleaches attack the teeth all at once, the use of teeth whitening toothpaste will attack regularly over time.
  

• Teeth whitening applicators will use a molding to fit to your teeth and regularly attack your teeth with teeth whitening chemicals. Non molding based teeth whitening applicators are much less expensive but may not have the effect of molding based teeth whitening applicators.
  

• Teeth whitening gel is generally used the same as teeth whitening toothpaste but is much more powerful. Usually an applicator is used to apply the gel to your teeth, much like a toothbrush but not exactly the same. The gel applicator is generally designed especially for the gel being used.
  

• Whitening strips are generally used twice a day for an extended period of time to be able to whiten the teeth with whitening chemicals. The chemicals are pre-placed on the strips and then the strips are applied to your teeth for around 30 minutes at a time.
  

While teeth whitening kits bought from the store are effective and easily usable they are not as immediately effective as bleaching based teeth whitening. The dentist’s that do teeth whitening are trained in what is effective for certain types of teeth and have access to more powerful equipment than you can find on your local grocery store’s shelves. While it may cost more, it also gives you a little bit more.
